Pioneer MuseumThe Pioneer Museum is part of the Arizona Historical Society. The museum focuses on the history of Flagstaff featuring over 10,000 related artifacts including vehicles and pioneer memorabilia. The largest exhibit is a 1929 Baldwin locomotive and a Santa Fe Railroad caboose. The Wool Festival showcases wool-spinning, sheep shearing demonstrations, weaving, camp cooking and other related events. Its Independence Day Celebration includes a living history Civil War camp with cannon-firing re-enactments and mountain man skills of year's past. The celebration takes place on the weekend closest to July 4th each year. The museum is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. except Sunday and is closed New Year's Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Admission is free on the first Saturday of each month and during special festival weekends but nominal fees apply at other times. Location:
